The Tao Trio: Truth, Ideals, and the Void
At the heart of Unova's mythology lies the Tao trio: Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem. The legend tells of two twin heroes who, through conflicting ideals, split a single powerful Dragon Pokémon into two separate beings. Reshiram, the Vast White Pokémon, sided with the hero who sought truth, while Zekrom, the Deep Black Pokémon, aligned with the one pursuing ideals. Their immense power is a testament to this ancient conflict.
Then there is Kyurem, the Boundary Pokémon. It is said to be the empty shell left behind after the split, a being devoid of the warmth of truth or ideals. Its chilling power and unique ability to fuse with its counterparts, creating Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, make it one of the most formidable Pokémon ever discovered. TYPE EFFECTIVENESS
Protectors of the Realm: Swords and Skies
Beyond the central myth, Unova is watched over by other powerful guardians. Leading the Swords of Justice is the Steel/Fighting-type Cobalion. Alongside its companions, Cobalion protects wild Pokémon from the encroachment of humans, embodying a calm and resolute spirit of leadership. This group's unique typing and strong sense of justice make them fan favorites.
Controlling the very weather are the Forces of Nature. While Tornadus and Thundurus bring wind and storms, it is Landorus who brings fertility to the land, quelling their disputes. In its Incarnate and Therian Formes, Landorus has consistently proven to be a powerhouse in competitive play, thanks to its excellent typing and abilities. Frequently Asked Questions
Can you catch both Reshiram and Zekrom in a single Generation 5 game?
In the original Pokémon Black and White, you can only catch the version's mascot (Reshiram in Black, Zekrom in White). However, in the sequels, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, you can obtain both. You catch one during the main story, and the other becomes available post-game after you've obtained the opposite version's dragon via trade.
