Without weather support, however, its base stats are completely inadequate for standard competitive play. This relegates Bulbasaur strictly to LC formats or early-game story playthroughs where raw stats matter less.

To maximize Bulbasaur's offensive pressure, the Chlorophyll sweeper set is the most effective route. Equipping a Life Orb significantly boosts its damage output, ensuring crucial OHKOs despite the recoil penalty.

The core of this strategy relies on setting up with Growth. Under harsh sunlight, Growth boosts Special Attack by two stages instead of one, instantly turning Bulbasaur into a wallbreaker.
