Psyshock is a crucial tech choice for bypassing special walls. It calculates damage based on the target's physical Defense instead of Special Defense, allowing you to break through Chansey or Blissey.

Shadow Ball provides necessary coverage against Ghost and opposing Psychic-types. Running a Modest nature guarantees maximum damage output to beat strict raid timers.

Tapu Lele absolutely trivializes Fighting, Poison, and Dragon-type encounters. In the Indigo Disk DLC, NPC trainers relying on priority moves completely waste their turns against it due to the terrain mechanics.

It shines brightest in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raids where the boss is weak to Psychic or Fairy. Slapping a Choice Specs on Tapu Lele allows you to comfortably break through raid shields before the timer expires.

Additionally, Tapu Lele is an excellent enabler for other Pokémon on your roster. By setting up Psychic Terrain, it creates a safe environment for frail, fast sweepers who hate priority attacks.

To extract maximum value from Tapu Lele, pair it with Pokémon that naturally exploit Psychic Terrain. The most notorious partner in casual double battles is Armarouge.

Armarouge gains access to a terrifying spread move in Expanding Force when standing on the terrain. Tapu Lele sets the field automatically, and Armarouge cleans up the remaining opponents with spread damage.

Even if you are just playing through the story, having a dedicated physical wall to pivot into is highly recommended. Tapu Lele's physical Defense is notoriously fragile, sitting at a meager base 75.

Top Teammates

• Corviknight: Easily absorbs the Poison and Steel-type attacks aimed at Tapu Lele, while providing slow U-turn pivoting.
• Great Tusk: Provides essential Ground-type coverage to eliminate the Steel-types that completely wall Tapu Lele.

Despite its massive offensive pressure, Tapu Lele is fundamentally flawed when facing bulky Steel-types. If you encounter a Corviknight, Gholdengo, or Kingambit, Tapu Lele is immediately forced to switch out.

It simply lacks the Fire or Ground coverage needed to threaten these defensive staples. Shadow Ball barely scratches specially defensive Steel-types, leaving you completely walled.
