How to Evolve Dreepy

Dreepy evolves into Drakloak exactly at level 50. Drakloak then evolves into Dragapult at level 60. Neither stage requires a held item, trading, friendship, or specific time of day.

The entire Dreepy line belongs to the Slow experience group. This mechanic means Dreepy requires significantly more experience points per level than most other species. Reaching level 50 requires exactly 156,250 EXP. Pushing from level 50 to level 60 demands an additional 113,750 EXP.

Because Dreepy has a base stat total of just 270, it is a complete liability in battle. Attempting to level it up through standard trainer battles will slow down your playthrough. Keeping it in the back of your party with the passive Exp. Share active is mandatory until it reaches level 50.

Manually grinding wild encounters to reach level 60 is inefficient. The optimal method in Generation 9 relies entirely on Exp. Candies L and XL. Completing 5-star and 6-star Tera Raids yields enough candies to push Dreepy from level 1 to 60 in less than ten minutes.

If you lack high-level Raid counters, Chansey farming provides the best alternative. Follow these specific steps to maximize EXP yield:

• Equip Dreepy with a Lucky Egg to multiply received experience by 1.5x.
• Travel to North Province (Area Three) near the Fairy Team Star Base.
• Consume a sandwich granting Encounter Power: Normal Lv. 2 (Recipe: Chorizo, Mayonnaise, Mustard).
• Defeat the guaranteed Chansey spawns using a strong physical attacker.

Do not use the Let's Go auto-battle feature with Dreepy. Its abysmal stats cause it to lose auto-battles against even low-level wild Pokémon, instantly halting your chain and wasting sandwich time.

Dragapult earns a definitive 9.5/10 competitive rating. It stands as one of the premier fast offensive pivots in both Smogon OU singles and VGC doubles formats. The massive level 60 grind is entirely justified by its 600 base stat total and elite stat distribution.

Its defining trait is a 142 base Speed stat. This outpaces nearly the entire unboosted metagame, including threats like Chien-Pao, Flutter Mane, and Iron Bundle (depending on Booster Energy activation). This speed tier forces opponents into unfavorable guessing games.

Dragapult excels as a mixed wallbreaker or a dedicated pivot. With 120 base Attack and 100 base Special Attack, it can effectively run Choice Specs or Choice Band sets. Access to U-turn allows it to scout switches, deal chip damage, and safely bring in fragile teammates.

Despite its pseudo-legendary status, Dragapult is not flawless. Understanding its mechanical strengths and limitations dictates how you build your team around it.

• Pro: Speed Tier. At 142 Speed, it guarantees first-move advantage against almost all non-Choice Scarf users.
• Pro: Unpredictability. Opponents cannot safely assume whether Dragapult is running a physical Dragon Darts set, a special Draco Meteor/Shadow Ball set, or a supportive Will-O-Wisp/Hex set.
• Pro: Typing Immunities. Ghost/Dragon typing grants crucial immunities to Normal and Fighting-type moves, providing free switch-in opportunities.
• Con: Physical Ghost STAB. Dragapult lacks a reliable physical Ghost attack. Phantom Force takes two turns, allowing opponents to easily use Protect or switch to a Normal-type. Tera Blast Ghost requires burning your team's single Terastallization.
• Con: Frailty. Base 88 HP, 75 Defense, and 75 Special Defense leave it vulnerable to strong priority moves like Sucker Punch or Ice Shard.
