How to Evolve Finizen

To evolve Finizen into Palafin, connect to a multiplayer session using the Union Circle feature. While another player is actively in your game world, level Finizen up to level 38 or higher using Rare Candies, EXP Candies, or standard battles. The evolution triggers immediately upon leveling up in co-op.

Evolving Finizen breaks traditional single-player conventions. You must meet two specific conditions simultaneously to trigger the change.

• Target Level: Level 38 minimum.
• Multiplayer Requirement: Active Union Circle session.
• Leveling Method: Standard battle EXP or Candy (Rare Candy / EXP Candy).

Missing either the level threshold or the multiplayer connection prevents the evolution completely. You cannot bypass the co-op requirement in the mainline games.

Currently, the primary games to evolve Finizen are Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. While the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A may alter multiplayer mechanics, the Paldean standard relies entirely on the Union Circle.

1. Head to any Pokémon Center in Paldea, Kitakami, or the Terarium.
2. Access the yellow screen on the side of the Pokémon Center or open the Poké Portal from your main menu.
3. Select Union Circle and choose to either form a group or join an existing one using a Link Code.
4. Wait for at least one other player's avatar to visibly load into your game world.
5. Feed Finizen a Rare Candy or enough EXP Candies to push it to level 38 or higher. You can also trigger this by winning a standard turn-based battle.

The evolution animation will begin immediately after the level-up screen closes.

Players frequently encounter roadblocks when attempting this multiplayer evolution. The most common mistake involves the Let's Go auto-battle system.

• Auto-Battle Restriction: Pokémon cannot evolve from levels gained via the R button auto-battles. You must initiate a traditional turn-based battle or use an item.
• Union Circle Disconnects: If your network drops before the level-up registers, the evolution fails. Ensure the other player is physically visible in your immediate vicinity before using a Rare Candy.
• Leveling Past 38: If your Finizen is already level 100, you cannot level it up further through combat. However, you can feed a level 100 Finizen a Rare Candy while in a Union Circle to force the evolution check.

In the SV LC tier, Finizen sees minimal play with a 0.2% usage rate. It operates primarily as a niche attacker relying on its Water Veil ability to absorb burns.

Its standard competitive sets utilize an Eviolite to bolster bulk or Choice Specs and Life Orb to maximize damage output. Common movepools include Hydro Pump, Surf, and Ice Beam for coverage, alongside utility options like Encore and Protect.

Finizen pairs well with defensive pivots and entry hazard setters like Vullaby, Mudbray, and Toedscool. Growlithe-Hisui and Varoom also provide excellent offensive synergy. It struggles heavily against Grass and Electric types, requiring careful pivoting to survive.
