How to Evolve Frogadier

Frogadier evolves into Greninja simply by reaching level 36. No evolution stones, specific times of day, or trading are required. Once Frogadier hits level 36 through battle experience or by consuming Rare Candies and EXP Candies, the evolution sequence triggers automatically.

For story playthroughs, Greninja earns a solid 9/10. It operates as a fast, frail sweeper that outspeeds almost all NPC trainers. While it lacks the bulk for competitive defensive pivoting, its high Speed and mixed attacking stats make it ideal for clearing gyms and story bosses efficiently.

In the urban environment of Lumiose City, evolving your starter or wild-caught Frogadier remains tied to standard leveling.

1. Keep Frogadier in your active party while exploring and battling.
2. Defeat wild Pokémon or trainers to accumulate Experience Points.
3. Use Rare Candies or EXP Candies to bridge level gaps quickly.
4. Allow the animation to play out once the Pokémon hits level 36.

Since Legends Z-A focuses entirely on the city structure, look for repeatable trainer battles or specific district zones with higher-level encounters to farm EXP without leaving the urban hub.

Frogadier is available via the Indigo Disk DLC inside the Terarium. The evolution method is identical, but the leveling process is much faster thanks to Paldea's resources.

1. Catch a Froakie in the Coastal Biome and level it to 16 to obtain Frogadier.
2. Farm Tera Raid Battles to stock up on EXP Candy M and EXP Candy L.
3. Feed the candies directly to Frogadier until it hits level 36.

Using the Let's Go auto-battle feature also works for passive EXP gain. Remember that a Pokémon cannot trigger its evolution through an auto-battle level up. You must complete a standard battle or use a candy for the final level.

The mobile game replaces traditional leveling with the candy system.

1. Tap on Frogadier in your Pokémon storage.
2. Ensure you have exactly 100 Froakie Candies.
3. Press the Evolve button.

Use Pinap Berries when catching wild Froakie to double your candy yield. Assigning Frogadier as your Buddy Pokémon also gathers the required candies as you walk.

Players occasionally hit roadblocks when trying to get Greninja. Here are the common fixes.

• The B Button cancellation: Pressing B during the evolution animation stops the process. Level Frogadier up one more time to trigger it again.
• Holding an Everstone: Check Frogadier's held item. If it holds an Everstone, it will never evolve. Remove the item and trigger another level up.
• Auto-battle limits in Scarlet/Violet: Pokémon do not evolve if the level-up occurs via the Let's Go auto-battle feature. Trigger a manual battle against a wild Pokémon or use an EXP Candy to bypass this restriction.
