The Level 35 Evolution Process
Glimmet evolves into
Glimmora exactly at level 35. Players do not need specific evolution stones, time-of-day conditions, or trading mechanics to trigger this evolution.
If you catch a
Glimmet at level 35 or higher in the wild, it will evolve immediately after gaining a single level. You can trigger this level-up through standard battle experience, Exp. Candies, or Rare Candies.
Using the Let's Go auto-battle feature will not trigger the evolution screen. If your Pokémon hits level 35 via auto-battling, you must level it up one more time in a manual battle or by feeding it a candy to initiate the evolution sequence.
Farming Experience for Fast Evolution
To accelerate the journey to level 35, players should utilize Exp. Candies M and L obtained from 4-star and 5-star Tera Raid Battles. Feeding these candies directly from the bag bypasses the need for grinding wild encounters.
For players without a stockpile of candies, farming
Chansey in North Province (Area Three) offers the highest experience yield per minute. Eating a sandwich that provides Normal Encounter Power Lv. 2 forces
Chansey to spawn in massive clusters.
Equipping
Glimmet with a Lucky Egg during these
Chansey battles increases experience gain by 50%. Defeating just three or four high-level
Chansey will push a newly caught
Glimmet straight to its evolution threshold.
Competitive Verdict: Why Evolve Glimmet?
Glimmora earns a definitive 8.5/10 rating in competitive singles formats. It functions almost exclusively as a dedicated suicide lead, designed to set up entry hazards early in the match and prevent the opponent from doing the same.
The primary reason to use
Glimmora is its signature ability, Toxic Debris. Whenever
Glimmora is hit by a physical attack, Toxic Debris automatically scatters Toxic Spikes on the opponent's side of the field. This punishes physical attackers like
Urshifu or
Dragonite immediately.
Unlike passive hazard setters,
Glimmora possesses a massive Special Attack stat. This high offensive pressure prevents opponents from using it as setup fodder. If an opponent tries to use Swords Dance or Dragon Dance,
Glimmora can severely damage them with Sludge Wave or Power Gem.
Pros, Cons, and Hazard Economy
Glimmora's biggest advantage is its exclusive access to Mortal Spin. This 30-base-power Poison-type move removes entry hazards from your side of the field while simultaneously poisoning the opposing Pokémon. Mortal Spin cannot be blocked by Taunt, making it superior to Defog.
However,
Glimmora suffers from glaring defensive flaws. Its Rock/Poison typing results in a crippling 4x weakness to Ground-type attacks. A single Earthquake from
Great Tusk or Landorus-Therian will easily achieve a one-hit knockout.
Another major con is its awkward base Speed stat. Sitting at 86 Speed,
Glimmora is outpaced by common threats like
Gholdengo,
Meowscarada, and
Iron Valiant. To guarantee it survives long enough to set Stealth Rock, players must run a Focus Sash.
Optimal Moveset and Teammate Synergy
A competitive
Glimmora requires a Focus Sash, a Timid Nature, and an EV spread of 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP. This maximizes its offensive output while ensuring it outspeeds slower defensive Pokémon.
The standard moveset includes Stealth Rock, Mortal Spin, Sludge Wave, and Earth Power. Sludge Wave serves as the primary STAB attack, while Earth Power provides crucial coverage against Steel-types like
Heatran and opposing
Glimmora.
Glimmora pairs perfectly with
Gholdengo. Because
Gholdengo's Good as Gold ability blocks Defog and Mortal Spin, it ensures the hazards
Glimmora sets remain on the field permanently.
Kingambit also synergizes well, using the chip damage from Toxic Spikes to guarantee late-game sweeps with Sucker Punch.
Matchups: Who Glimmora Beats and Loses To
Glimmora excels against physical attackers that rely on contact moves.
Meowscarada and
Ogerpon trigger Toxic Debris immediately upon attacking, permanently crippling their team with poison if they lack a grounded Poison-type to absorb the spikes.
Conversely,
Glimmora is entirely shut down by Heavy-Duty Boots users and fast Ground-types.
Great Tusk can outspeed
Glimmora with a Choice Scarf, knock it out with Headlong Rush, and clear the resulting Toxic Spikes later using Rapid Spin.
Special attackers also bypass Toxic Debris entirely.
Iron Moth and
Gholdengo can hit
Glimmora with super-effective special moves, cleanly avoiding the ability trigger and preventing the suicide lead from generating any passive value.

Frequently Asked Questions About Glimmet
Can Glimmet evolve using an evolution stone?
No. Glimmet evolves strictly by reaching level 35. Items like the Moon Stone or Shiny Stone have no effect on this Pokémon.
Does trading Glimmet make it evolve earlier?
Trading does not alter Glimmet's evolution requirements. It will remain a Glimmet until it hits level 35, regardless of its original trainer.
Can I catch Glimmora in the wild instead of evolving Glimmet?
Yes. Fully evolved Glimmora spawn in the lower depths of the Great Crater of Paldea (Area Zero), specifically in the crystal cave sections.
Does Glimmet learn Mortal Spin before evolving?
No. Mortal Spin is learned exclusively by Glimmora. It will learn the move immediately upon evolving at level 35.
