How to Evolve Jangmo-o

Jangmo-o requires 1,250,000 EXP points to reach level 100, placing it in the Slow experience group. Evolving it takes deliberate effort and resource management.

The first evolution into Hakamo-o occurs at level 35. You do not need any evolutionary stones, friendship mechanics, or specific times of day.

Hakamo-o then evolves into Kommo-o at level 45. Using EXP Candies XL or farming high-yield targets like Blissey accelerates this process significantly.

If you cancel the evolution by pressing B, Hakamo-o will attempt to evolve again at level 46. There is no strategic benefit to delaying these evolutions, as Kommo-o learns its best moves via TM and level-up as a fully evolved Pokémon.

Kommo-o earns a solid 8/10 rating on the competitive ladder. It operates primarily as a setup sweeper or bulky breaker.

Its signature move, Clangorous Soul, consumes 33% of its maximum HP to boost all stats by one stage. This turns it into an immediate endgame threat.

• Pros: Unpredictable sets, excellent defensive abilities, access to Body Press off a base 125 Defense.
• Cons: Base 85 Speed requires a boost to outspeed fast threats, severe 4x weakness to Fairy-type attacks.

This Pokémon fits best on bulky offense teams. Players who struggle with Fairy-types should pair it with strong Steel-type pivots like Corviknight or Gholdengo.

Choosing the right ability dictates Kommo-o's defensive utility. Bulletproof grants immunity to ball and bomb moves.

This allows Kommo-o to switch freely into Gengar's Shadow Ball or Amoonguss's Sludge Bomb. Soundproof offers a different, highly specific niche.

With Soundproof, Kommo-o ignores Roar, preventing phazers from ruining its setup. It also blocks opposing Clanging Scales in mirror matchups and completely walls Sylveon's Hyper Voice.

Overcoat protects against weather damage and powder moves like Spore. Bulletproof remains the most consistent choice for standard singles formats.

The Throat Spray item synergizes perfectly with Clangorous Soul. The move counts as a sound-based attack, triggering the item for an additional Special Attack boost.

A standard mixed set runs Clangorous Soul, Clanging Scales, Drain Punch, and Flamethrower. Drain Punch recovers the HP lost during setup, while Flamethrower melts Steel-types.
