How to Evolve Joltik

To evolve Joltik into Galvantula, you must raise it to level 36. This evolution method requires no special items, trading, or friendship mechanics. Once Joltik reaches level 36 through battle experience or Rare Candies, the evolution triggers automatically in all mainline Pokémon games.

Evolving Joltik relies entirely on accumulating experience points. You do not need to hunt down specific evolution stones or find a trading partner to get Galvantula.

Because the requirement is a flat level threshold, you can trigger this evolution naturally during your playthrough just by keeping it in your active party.

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, experience scaling makes reaching level 36 straightforward. Keep Joltik in your party while exploring Lumiose City to accumulate passive EXP.

1. Place Joltik in your active party.
2. Engage in wild encounters or trainer battles to gain experience.
3. Use EXP Candies obtained from raids or quests for immediate leveling.
4. Once the Pokémon hits level 36, open your menu and manually trigger the evolution prompt.

Manual evolution means you can delay the process if you want Joltik to learn specific moves earlier. Evolving immediately, however, grants a significant stat boost.

Joltik returns in the Scarlet & Violet DLC, specifically within the Terarium. Wild encounters here often spawn well above the required evolution threshold.

1. Catch a wild Joltik in the Chargestone Cavern biome of the Terarium.
2. Since wild Joltik in the DLC are typically level 60 or higher, simply level it up exactly once.
3. Feed it a single Rare Candy or complete one standard battle to trigger the evolution screen immediately.

If you breed a level 1 Joltik, you can use the Let's Go auto-battle feature to farm experience quickly against lower-level wild Pokémon until it nears level 36.

The mobile mechanics differ entirely from the mainline titles. You cannot level up to evolve in this game.

1. Accumulate exactly 50 Joltik Candy.
2. Select Joltik from your Pokémon storage.
3. Tap the Evolve button.

Use Pinap Berries when catching wild Joltik to double your candy yield. Walking with Joltik as your Buddy also generates one candy per 3 kilometers.

Players occasionally hit roadblocks when trying to get Galvantula. The most common issue is the Everstone. If your Joltik is holding this item, the evolution sequence will never trigger, even past level 36.

Auto-battling in Scarlet & Violet presents another hurdle. A Pokémon cannot evolve directly from an auto-battle level-up. You must engage in a standard turn-based battle or use an EXP item for that final level.

In Legends titles, evolution is not forced. If your Joltik is past level 36 but hasn't evolved, check your party menu. You need to manually press the glowing evolve button next to its name.

While Galvantula lacks the bulk for serious competitive play, it remains a fantastic choice for a standard story playthrough. Its Bug/Electric typing provides excellent offensive coverage against common in-game trainers.

Use it as a dedicated fast attacker during the mid-game. It falls off slightly against late-game bosses with high base stats, but its utility and speed make it a highly functional team member.
