How to Evolve Nuzleaf

To evolve Nuzleaf into Shiftry, expose it to a Leaf Stone. There is no level requirement, trading mechanic, or time-of-day condition. As soon as you use the Leaf Stone on Nuzleaf directly from your inventory, the evolution triggers immediately.

Evolving Nuzleaf is a simple item-based process. You trade the Grass/Dark-type's mid-stage stats for Shiftry's aggressive offensive profile.

1. Acquire a Leaf Stone from the central trading post or by completing specific urban requests.
2. Open your satchel and navigate to the items pocket.
3. Select the Leaf Stone and choose "Use".
4. Select Nuzleaf from your active party to initiate the evolution sequence.

Since move relearning is easily accessible in modern titles, evolving Nuzleaf immediately upon acquiring the stone carries no penalty for Shiftry's available movepool.

Paldea offers several guaranteed methods to secure a Leaf Stone. The easiest route involves purchasing one directly once you make enough story progress.

1. Defeat at least three Gym Leaders to unlock new inventory at Delibird Presents.
2. Travel to any Delibird Presents branch in Mesagoza, Levincia, or Cascarrafa.
3. Purchase a Leaf Stone for 3,000 Pokédollars.
4. Apply the stone directly to Nuzleaf from your bag.

If you prefer saving your money, you can find a free Leaf Stone hidden behind a tent in the Tagtree Thicket. Another spawns consistently in the muddy areas of South Province (Area Four).
