How to Evolve Rookidee

Rookidee evolves into Corvisquire automatically upon reaching Level 18 through standard battle experience or by consuming Exp. Candies. To reach its final form, Corviknight, you must continue leveling Corvisquire until it reaches Level 38. No special items, trading, or specific times of day are required for either stage.

Evolving Rookidee is a straightforward, two-step linear process based entirely on experience points. Unlike many modern Pokémon, it does not rely on friendship, specific moves, or environmental triggers.

• First Stage: Rookidee to Corvisquire at Level 18.
• Final Stage: Corvisquire to Corviknight at Level 38.
• Required Items: None (though Exp. Candies speed up the process).
• Time Investment: Roughly 30 to 45 minutes of early-game battling depending on the generation.

While the requirements are simple, the exact method for farming experience efficiently varies heavily depending on which current-generation game you are playing.

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, leveling Rookidee within the urban environment of Lumiose City relies heavily on trainer battles and district exploration. Shared experience is enabled by default, meaning Rookidee will gain levels simply by resting in your active party.

To hit Level 18 quickly, focus on completing early-game capture milestones in the reconstructed park sectors. Catching multiple Pokémon in succession yields massive experience multipliers.

1. Place Rookidee in your party.
2. Engage in consecutive wild captures or battle local trainers in the Lumiose plazas.
3. Once Rookidee hits Level 18, the evolution screen will trigger immediately after the battle or capture sequence concludes.

If the game features an equivalent to Grit items or Exp. Candies, using them directly from your satchel will instantly force the evolution check once the Level 18 threshold is crossed.

Paldea offers the fastest methods for early-game leveling, but introduces a specific mechanical trap that catches many players off guard. Rookidee is commonly found in South Province (Area One) and East Province (Area Three).

The most efficient way to hit Level 18 is bypassing wild battles entirely and focusing on Tera Raids. Completing just three or four 1-Star or 2-Star Tera Raids will provide enough Exp. Candy S and Exp. Candy M to instantly level a freshly caught Rookidee to 18.

1. Catch a Rookidee in the South Province early routes (usually around Level 4 to 6).
2. Open your bag and navigate to the Treasures tab.
3. Feed Rookidee approximately 12 Exp. Candy S or 3 Exp. Candy M to reach Level 18.

If you prefer standard battling, keep Rookidee at the front of your party and fight Lechonk or Tarountula. Avoid fast-moving spawns that might overwhelm its low base speed.

The mobile mechanics strip away levels entirely, replacing them with a flat candy cost. Because Rookidee is a three-stage evolution line, the candy scaling follows the standard 25/100 pattern.

To farm the 125 total candies efficiently, use Pinap Berries or Silver Pinap Berries on every wild Rookidee encounter to double the yield from 3 to 6 candies. Transferring excess Rookidee to Professor Willow grants an additional candy per transfer.

If wild spawns are scarce in your local biome, set Rookidee as your Buddy Pokémon. It requires only 1 kilometer of walking to generate a candy, making it one of the easiest flying-types to farm passively.

Hitting Level 18 does not always guarantee an evolution. If your Rookidee has passed the threshold and remains in its base form, you have likely encountered one of three common roadblocks.

• The Let's Go Auto-Battle Trap: In Scarlet and Violet, if you use the "R" button to send Rookidee out to fight wild Pokémon automatically, it will gain experience. However, an auto-battle level-up never triggers evolution. You must level it up one more time via a manual battle or a candy to fix this.
• Holding an Everstone: Check Rookidee's held item summary. If it is holding an Everstone, the evolution sequence is hard-locked. Remove the item and level it up once more.
• Accidental B-Button Press: Pressing "B" during the evolution animation cancels the process. If you did this, the game will attempt to evolve Rookidee again at Level 19, Level 20, and so on, after every subsequent level-up.

For a standard story playthrough, the Rookidee line is a phenomenal defensive anchor. Corviknight's eventual Steel/Flying typing grants it immunity to Ground and Poison, alongside resistances to Bug, Grass, Psychic, Steel, Fairy, Dragon, Normal, and Flying. It is a premier physical wall against Elite Four members.

However, Rookidee's base offensive stats are abysmal. It relies heavily on moves like Pluck and Drill Peck early on, and its low Speed means it will take a hit in almost every encounter. This makes it inefficient for players who want to clear story routes quickly with fast, sweeping strikes.

In serious competitive formats (like Smogon SV), Rookidee holds zero viability. While Corviknight is a staple pivot and defogger in higher tiers, the base form lacks the stats, ability utility, or movepool to survive even in Little Cup (LC) formats. Keep it strictly for your single-player adventure.
