How to Evolve Slowpoke

To evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro, simply raise it to level 37. To evolve it into Slowking, you must trade Slowpoke to another player while it holds a King's Rock. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can bypass the trade requirement by using a Linking Cord directly from your satchel.

Choosing your evolution depends on your preferred playstyle. Slowbro offers physical bulk, while Slowking provides special defense.

3. Open your satchel and use the Linking Cord on Slowpoke while the King's Rock is in your inventory to trigger the Slowking evolution.

For Slowbro, simply keep Slowpoke in your active party until it hits level 37. You can speed this up using Exp. Candies gathered from alpha encounters.

Paldea retains the traditional trade-evolution mechanics. You will need a trusted partner or a secondary console to get Slowking.

1. Purchase a King's Rock from the Delibird Presents shop in Mesagoza after earning four Gym Badges.
2. Give the King's Rock to Slowpoke to hold.
3. Connect to the internet or local wireless and trade Slowpoke to a friend.
4. The evolution into Slowking will trigger immediately on your friend's screen. Have them trade it back.

If you are aiming for Slowbro, level 37 remains the magic number. Wild Slowbro can also be found directly in Casseroya Lake if you want to skip the leveling process entirely.

Niantic uses a candy-based system, with specific buddy tasks required for the Galarian variants.

• Kantonian Slowbro: Costs 50 Slowpoke Candy.
• Kantonian Slowking: Costs 50 Slowpoke Candy plus 1 King's Rock (obtained from PokéStops or gifts).
• Galarian Slowbro: Set Galarian Slowpoke as your buddy and catch 30 Poison-type Pokémon, then spend 50 Candy.
• Galarian Slowking: Set it as your buddy and catch 30 Psychic-type Pokémon, then spend 50 Candy.

Players frequently encounter roadblocks when attempting to get Slowking. Here are the most common failures and how to fix them.

• The Everstone trap: Ensure your Slowpoke is not holding an Everstone. This completely blocks all evolution methods, including trades.
• Wrong item used: Giving a Slowpoke a King's Rock and leveling it up does nothing. The item only works during a trade, or with a Linking Cord in Legends titles.
• Galarian confusion: A standard Slowpoke cannot evolve into Galarian Slowbro using a Galarica Cuff. These items only work on Galarian Slowpoke caught in specific DLC areas or raids.
