How to Evolve Spritzee

To evolve Spritzee into Aromatisse in traditional mainline games, you must trade it to another player while it is holding a Sachet. In Pokémon GO, you need to set Spritzee as your Buddy, activate an Incense, and then use 50 Spritzee Candy.

Evolving Spritzee requires specific triggers that vary heavily depending on the game you are playing. Leveling up will never trigger this evolution, regardless of how high you grind.

With the Kalos region returning in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Spritzee re-enters the spotlight. If the game follows the quality-of-life mechanics established in Legends: Arceus, the trade requirement will likely be bypassed entirely.

In the Legends format, you typically evolve Spritzee by obtaining a Sachet and using it directly on the Pokémon from your satchel, similar to an evolutionary stone. We will update the exact Sachet vendor locations once the Lumiose City map is fully explorable.

For traditional games like Pokémon Sword and Shield or Pokémon X and Y, the standard trade mechanic applies. Follow these steps:

1. Obtain a Sachet. In Sword and Shield, you can purchase one from the BP merchant in the Hammerlocke Pokémon Center for 10 BP.
2. Give the Sachet to Spritzee to hold.
3. Initiate a link trade with a trusted friend.
4. Once the trade completes, the evolution animation will trigger on your friend's screen.
5. Have your friend trade the newly evolved Aromatisse back to you.

Pokémon GO removes the trading aspect entirely but introduces a unique field requirement. You cannot simply press the evolve button, even if you have enough candy.

To get Aromatisse in GO, you must complete a specific buddy task. Here is the exact sequence:

1. Tap your current Buddy icon on the bottom left of the map screen and swap your Buddy to Spritzee.
2. Return to the map and open your item bag.
3. Activate an Incense or a Daily Adventure Incense.
4. Open Spritzee's summary screen while the Incense timer is ticking.
5. The "Evolve" button will now be pink and clickable. Tap it and spend 50 Spritzee Candy.

You do not need to walk with Spritzee or earn hearts. The only requirement is that it occupies the Buddy slot at the exact moment the Incense is burning.

Do not waste time looking for Spritzee in the Paldea region. Spritzee and Aromatisse are completely absent from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

They do not spawn in the base game, nor are they included in the Teal Mask or Indigo Disk DLC expansions. Furthermore, you cannot transfer them into the game via Pokémon HOME. Any Spritzee caught in GO or older generations must remain in HOME or be moved to Sword and Shield.

The Sachet Was Consumed Without Evolution

If you used the Sachet in a traditional game and nothing happened, you likely tried to use it like a potion from your bag. Pokémon GO Button Remains Grayed Out

If you popped an Incense but the evolve button is still locked, verify your Buddy status. Spritzee must be your active Buddy right now. If you activated the Incense and then swapped your Buddy to something else, the button will lock again. Additionally, ensure you actually have the 50 candy required for the transaction.

The Mystery Box Trap in GO

Many players attempt to use the Meltan Mystery Box or the Gimmighoul Coin Bag to trigger the GO evolution. These items spawn Pokémon, but the game code does not classify them as standard Incense. You must use a traditional green Incense or the blue Daily Adventure Incense to satisfy the requirement.
