Evolving Trapinch follows a straightforward, level-based progression with no secondary conditions.
Trapinch evolves into
Vibrava exactly at level 35. You do not need evolution stones, time-of-day mechanics, or specific friendship values.
Once you have
Vibrava, it evolves into the final stage,
Flygon, at level 45. Players can accelerate this process using Rare Candies or Exp. Candies obtained from modern raid mechanics. Keeping
Trapinch in the active party with an Exp. Share is highly recommended due to its base 10 Speed, which makes it difficult to train safely against faster opponents.
Be prepared for a jarring stat shift upon the first evolution.
Trapinch possesses a base Attack of 100, while
Vibrava drops to a base 70 Attack. This trade-off grants
Vibrava a base 70 Speed and the Levitate ability, completely altering its playstyle from a slow trapper to an agile attacker.

Flygon earns a solid 7.5/10 rating in the competitive landscape. Its primary role is an offensive pivot and entry hazard clearer. The combination of the Ground/Dragon typing and the Levitate ability makes
Flygon completely immune to Ground-type attacks, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes.
Unlike heavier Dragon-types,
Flygon gains momentum for your team using U-turn. It can switch into predicted Earthquake attacks, force out the opponent, and immediately U-turn to safely bring in a teammate. Access to Defog allows it to clear Stealth Rock without taking hazard damage upon entry.
- Pros: Excellent defensive typing with Levitate, reliable hazard removal via Defog, momentum generation with U-turn, and access to Dragon Dance for late-game sweeping.

Flygon's base 100 Speed, a Jolly Nature (+Speed, -Special Attack) is mandatory. Running an Adamant Nature leaves
Flygon outsped by base 95 and base 98 Speed Pokémon, which often carry super-effective Ice or Dragon coverage moves. Effort Values (EVs) should be distributed with 252 in Attack, 252 in Speed, and 4 in Special Defense.
For an offensive pivot set, equip
Flygon with a Choice Scarf. This allows it to act as a revenge killer. The standard moveset includes Earthquake for reliable STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), Outrage or Dragon Claw for secondary STAB, U-turn for pivoting, and Defog or Stone Edge for utility and coverage.
