How to Evolve Whirlipede

Whirlipede evolves into Scolipede by reaching Level 30 in mainline games like Scarlet, Violet, and Legends: Z-A. No evolution stones, trading, or specific items are required. In Pokémon GO, the evolution process requires exactly 100 Venipede Candy.

Evolving Whirlipede is straightforward compared to many modern Pokémon, but the methods vary significantly depending on the platform you are playing. Understanding the baseline requirements saves time and prevents wasted resources.

Leveling Whirlipede to 30 in Scarlet and Violet is incredibly fast if you utilize the Paldea region's specific farming mechanics. Relying on passive experience from standard trainer battles works, but targeted farming cuts the process down to minutes.

1. Travel to North Province (Area Three) near the Fairy-type Team Star base.

While Scolipede does not currently hold a place in serious Smogon competitive tiers for Scarlet and Violet, it remains an absolute powerhouse for in-game story playthroughs. Its value entirely hinges on securing its Hidden Ability, Speed Boost.

With Speed Boost, Scolipede becomes a highly effective physical sweeper against NPC teams. Its base 112 Speed ensures it outpaces almost everything naturally, and the ability makes it untouchable after a single turn. Access to Swords Dance allows it to boost its respectable base 100 Attack to lethal levels.

For a story moveset, combining Megahorn and Poison Jab provides excellent STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) coverage. Earthquake rounds out the set to hit Steel and Rock types that otherwise wall it. However, Scolipede suffers from terrible bulk. If it fails to knock out an opponent in one hit, it rarely survives a strong super-effective retaliation. It is a fantastic glass cannon for the campaign, but falls off drastically in post-game battle facilities where opponents use priority moves.
