Evolving Wiglett
The Essentials & In-Game Verdict
Wiglett's evolution path relies entirely on standard leveling mechanics. You do not need to hunt for specific items or trade with other players.
- Target:
Wugtrio - Method: Level up
- Requirement: Level 26
As an in-game asset,
Wugtrio earns a strict 4/10. It boasts excellent Speed and decent Attack, making it a functional glass cannon for the main story. However, its abysmal defensive stats mean it gets knocked out by almost any neutral physical or special attack.
It holds no place in the competitive meta.
Wugtrio functions purely as a Pokédex filler once you finish the main campaign.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A & Future Availability
While
Wiglett originated in Paldea, players anticipating its transfer to Pokémon Legends: Z-A via Pokémon HOME should expect the standard level-up requirement to remain intact.
If
Wiglett is included in the Lumiose City Pokédex, the evolution process will follow the traditional Legends format. You will need to reach Level 26 and manually trigger the evolution from the party menu, rather than waiting for an automatic post-battle screen.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
In its debut games, evolving
Wiglett requires minimal effort. You can catch wild
Wiglett early along the beaches of the Paldea region.
- Add
Wiglett to your active party. - Engage in trainer or wild Pokémon battles to gain experience points.
- Feed it EXP Candies or a Rare Candy if you want to skip the grind.
- Reach Level 26 to trigger the evolution screen.
Keep in mind that auto-battling will not trigger the evolution. If
Wiglett hits Level 26 via the Let's Go feature, you must level it up one more time in a standard battle or with an item.
Pokémon GO
Wiglett was introduced to Pokémon GO with a strict biome-specific spawn mechanic. It only appears near beach and coastline environments.
- Catch enough wild
Wiglett or use Pinap Berries to accumulate 50
Wiglett Candy. - Select
Wiglett from your Pokémon storage. - Tap the Evolve button and spend the 50
Wiglett Candy.
Since
Wiglett is restricted to beach biomes, gathering 50 candy might take time if you do not live near the ocean. Setting it as your Buddy Pokémon helps generate candy passively while walking.
Why Won't My Wiglett Evolve?
Players occasionally run into issues where
Wiglett passes Level 26 without evolving. This usually stems from two specific mechanics.
- Auto-Battle Cap: If
Wiglett reaches Level 26 using the Let's Go auto-battle feature, the evolution will not trigger. You must level it up again using a traditional battle, an EXP Candy, or a Rare Candy. - Everstone Equipped: Check
Wiglett's held item. If it is holding an Everstone, the evolution sequence is blocked. Remove the item and level it up once more.
If you accidentally press the B button during the evolution animation, the process cancels. Simply level
Wiglett up one more time to try again.
