How to Evolve Nickit

Nickit evolves into Thievul automatically upon reaching level 18. You do not need any evolutionary stones, specific weather conditions, or trading mechanics. Once Nickit hits level 18 through battle experience or by consuming Exp. Candies, the evolution sequence triggers immediately.

Nickit is completely absent from the Paldea Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Players cannot transfer Nickit or Thievul into Generation 9 games using Pokémon HOME. The species remains locked to older software generations.

2. Keep Nickit in your active party. The permanent Exp. Share in Generation 8 ensures it gains experience even if it never enters active combat.
3. Farm Exp. Candies XS and S by completing 1-star and 2-star Max Raid Battles in the Wild Area.
4. Feed the candies to Nickit from your bag, or battle wild Pokémon until Nickit reaches level 18.
5. Allow the evolution screen to play out completely without pressing the B button.

Upon reaching level 18, Nickit immediately evolves into Thievul and learns the move Thief. This attack provides excellent utility for stealing held items from wild Pokémon during your playthrough.

In the mobile environment, levels do not exist in the traditional sense. Niantic requires a specific currency to trigger the evolution. You need exactly 50 Nickit Candies to obtain Thievul.

1. Track wild Nickit spawns using the nearby radar. Spawns increase significantly during Dark-type events or in Foggy weather conditions.
2. Feed a Pinap Berry or Silver Pinap Berry to the wild Nickit before throwing your Poké Ball. This doubles the catch reward from 3 to 6 candies.
3. Transfer low-CP or poor-IV Nickit to Professor Willow. Each transfer yields 1 additional Nickit Candy.
4. Assign Nickit as your active Buddy Pokémon. Walk with the app open or Adventure Sync enabled. Nickit finds 1 candy for every 3 kilometers walked.
5. Open Nickit's summary screen and tap the Evolve button once the 50-candy threshold is met.

Thievul performs poorly in GO Battle League PvP formats. Save your Stardust and evolve a high-CP Nickit purely for Pokédex completion rather than competitive investment.

Players occasionally encounter roadblocks when attempting to evolve Nickit. Check these common mechanical oversights if your Pokémon remains in its base form past level 18.

The most frequent issue involves the Everstone. If Nickit holds this item, the evolution sequence will never trigger. Open your party menu, check Nickit's summary, and remove the Everstone. Level up the Pokémon one more time to initiate the evolution.

Accidental cancellation is another common player error. Pressing the B button during the glowing evolution animation immediately halts the process. The game registers this as a manual refusal. You must gain another level to prompt the screen again.

Finally, passive leveling methods delay evolution. If Nickit reaches level 18 while sitting in the Pokémon Nursery or completing a Poké Job in Galar, it will not evolve. Pokémon must level up via direct battle experience or candy consumption to trigger the evolution state.

Catching a wild Nickit usually yields the Run Away or Unburden ability. Run Away offers zero combat value in trainer battles. Unburden doubles Speed when a held item is lost, synergizing perfectly with a Sitrus Berry during tough story fights.

Dedicated players should hunt for Nickit's Hidden Ability, Stakeout. Stakeout doubles the damage of attacks against targets that switch in during the turn. You can only obtain a Stakeout Nickit by completing Max Raid Battles in the Wild Area or using an Ability Patch.

Breeding Nickit requires placing it in the Nursery with a compatible Field Egg Group partner or a Ditto. The resulting Egg hatches after 3,840 steps. Breeding allows you to pass down Egg Moves like Knock Off and Parting Shot, drastically improving Thievul's utility as a fast pivot.

Thievul completely lacks viability in serious competitive formats. Smogon statistics exclude Thievul from standard competitive play due to its abysmal bulk and mediocre offensive stats. Treat this Pokémon strictly as an in-game story tool.

For a Sword and Shield playthrough, Thievul excels during the first three Gyms. Access to Snarl and Thief at low levels allows it to dismantle early-game opponents. The Unburden ability provides a massive Speed boost if Thievul consumes a held berry, making it a reliable early-game sweeper.

However, Thievul hits a severe power ceiling by the mid-game. Its base 87 Special Attack fails to secure knockouts against fully evolved Gym Leader teams. Players should swap Thievul out for superior Dark-types like Grimmsnarl, Obstagoon, or Hydreigon before challenging the Champion Cup.
