How to Evolve Pawmi

Players encounter Pawmi very early in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, primarily on Poco Path and South Province (Area One). Getting this Electric-type to its middle stage requires standard leveling.

It evolves into Pawmo automatically upon reaching level 18. You can achieve this threshold through wild battles, trainer encounters, or by feeding it EXP Candies.

No special items, friendship levels, or time of day restrictions apply to this first phase. Keeping it in your active party guarantees it will hit level 18 naturally before you face the second Gym Leader.

Evolving Pawmo into Pawmot introduces the Let's Go walking requirement. You must press the R button to send Pawmo out of its Poké Ball and walk 1,000 steps alongside it.

Do not use the ZR button. Pressing ZR throws the ball to initiate a battle, which does not activate the walking tracking. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet lack a visible step counter, making this process highly manual.

1,000 steps translate to roughly five to seven minutes of continuous walking at normal character speed. If you outpace Pawmo by sprinting or riding Koraidon/Miraidon, the Pokémon returns to its ball, forcing you to send it out again.

To avoid despawning Pawmo, walk in a safe, encounter-free zone. The roof of a Pokémon Center or the central plaza in Mesagoza are optimal locations because wild Pokémon will not interrupt your progress.

Many players rely on the circle-running method. Gently push both joy-cons towards each other to make your character run in a tight circle while Pawmo chases you. You can rubber-band the sticks and wait 10 minutes.

• Do not enter buildings, as loading screens reset the instance.
• Keep Pawmo out of auto-battles to prevent it from fainting.
• Do not trigger a wild battle to level up once you finish walking.

Instead, open your bag and feed Pawmo a Rare Candy or EXP Candy while it is still standing outside its ball. The evolution screen triggers instantly if the 1,000-step threshold is met.

Equip Pawmot with a Focus Sash. Because of its abysmal bulk, a Focus Sash guarantees it survives at least one hit, ensuring it can successfully cast Revival Blessing or fire off a crucial Close Combat before fainting.
