How to Evolve Primeape

For the first time since its debut in Generation I, Primeape received a new evolution in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: the formidable Annihilape. This evolution isn't achieved through simple leveling or an evolution stone; it requires a specific and unique method tied to one of its moves.

Here’s how to do it:

• 1. Teach Primeape Rage Fist: Primeape learns the Ghost-type move Rage Fist at level 35. If your Primeape is above level 35 and doesn't know the move, you can easily have it remember the move from its summary screen.
• 2. Use Rage Fist 20 Times: The core of the evolution method is to have Primeape use the move Rage Fist 20 times in battle. The uses are cumulative, meaning they don't have to be in a single battle. The counter will not reset if Primeape faints or is healed at a Pokémon Center.
• 3. Level Up: Once Primeape has used Rage Fist for the 20th time, simply level it up once. This can be done through battle, by using a Rare Candy, or with EXP. Candies. Upon leveling up, the evolution sequence into Annihilape will trigger.

A good strategy is to battle Pokémon that don't do much damage, allowing you to use Rage Fist multiple times without risk. Since Rage Fist only has 10 PP, you'll need to visit a Pokémon Center or use an Ether to restore it during the process.

The result of your efforts is Annihilape, a powerhouse with a unique Fighting/Ghost typing. This typing gives it immunities to both Normal and Fighting-type attacks, making it a strategic asset in many battles.

According to its Pokédex entry, the rage Primeape felt grew so intense that it transcended its physical body, granting it ghostly power. This lore is perfectly reflected in its signature move, Rage Fist, which grows in power each time Annihilape is hit by an attack during a battle.
