How to Evolve Tirtouga

Tirtouga evolves into Carracosta strictly by reaching level 37. This process requires no evolution stones, held items, friendship thresholds, or trading mechanics.

Players can trigger this evolution using standard battle experience, EXP Candies, or Rare Candies. If you cancel the evolution by pressing the B button, Tirtouga will attempt to evolve again at level 38 and upon every subsequent level up.

Because Tirtouga is a Fossil Pokémon, it often hatches or is restored at level 20 or lower in older generations. This requires a moderate experience grind before hitting the level 37 threshold to unlock Carracosta.

Acquiring Tirtouga varies heavily depending on the generation. In Generation 5, players must choose the Cover Fossil at the Relic Castle and restore it at the Nacrene City Museum.
