How to Evolve Zweilous

Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon purely by reaching Level 64. There are no special items, friendship requirements, or time-of-day conditions needed. Because Level 64 is exceptionally high, using EXP Candies or farming high-yield experience targets like Chansey is the most efficient way to trigger the evolution.

Evolving Zweilous requires exactly one condition: reaching Level 64. You do not need to worry about time of day, held items, or friendship values.

Because Level 64 is one of the highest evolution thresholds in the franchise, dedicating a slot in your party to Zweilous is a significant time investment. The payoff is Hydreigon, a phenomenal special attacker for clearing main story content and elite four battles.

However, keep your expectations realistic for the post-game. Hydreigon sees virtually zero usage in serious competitive formats today. Rampant Fairy-types and severe speed creep have pushed it entirely out of the standard meta, making it strictly an in-game asset.

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, relying on wild encounters to reach Level 64 takes too long. You need to focus on concentrated experience sources.

1. Complete high-level urban research tasks to stockpile EXP Candies L and EXP Candies XL.
2. Feed the candies directly to Zweilous from your satchel until it hits Level 64.
3. Trigger the evolution manually from the party menu when the game prompts you.

If you prefer battling, target Alpha Pokémon or high-level trainer rematches in the Lumiose battle facilities. Always keep Zweilous in your active party to maximize passive experience share.

Paldea offers highly optimized routes for power-leveling Zweilous. The most efficient method involves manipulating wild encounter rates.

1. Prepare a Ham Sandwich to activate Encounter Power: Normal Lv. 2.
2. Travel to North Province (Area Three) or the upper levels of Area Zero.
3. Battle the massive groups of Chansey that spawn, using physical attackers to defeat them quickly.

Alternatively, farming 5-star and 6-star Tera Raids yields dozens of EXP Candies. Pumping these into Zweilous skips the grinding process entirely, taking it from its base catch level to 64 in seconds.

The mobile spin-off ignores traditional leveling entirely. You will need 100 Deino Candies to evolve Zweilous into Hydreigon.

1. Catch every Deino and Zweilous you see using a Pinap Berry to double the candy yield.
2. Set Zweilous as your Buddy Pokémon to earn one candy for every 5 kilometers walked.
3. Transfer duplicate Deino to Professor Willow during double-transfer-candy spotlight hours.

Once you hit the 100-candy threshold, simply tap the evolve button on the Zweilous summary screen.

Players occasionally hit Level 64 and find their Zweilous remains unchanged. Check these common blockers to fix the issue.

• Holding an Everstone: If Zweilous is holding an Everstone, the evolution sequence will never trigger. Remove the item and level up one more time.
• Accidental Cancellation: Pressing the B button during the evolution animation cancels the process. You will need to reach Level 65 to try again.
• Level 100 Cap: If you received a Level 100 Zweilous via trade, it cannot level up normally. Feed it a single Rare Candy to force the evolution check.
